ethical & sustainable sourcing

where are caliray products manufactured?

both domestically and internationally. we only source from factories who help us fulfill our clean & sustainability mission. for specific details, see packaging.

does caliray test on animals?

never! we are 100% cruelty-free and are leaping bunny certified. 

what is caliray formulated without?

we have established our clean standards very closely to the Clean-at-Sephora ingredient list. this means no parabens, sulfates, phthalates, harsh, drying alcohols, nanomaterials, microplastics, or formaldehyde. scroll down to see our full list of blacklisted ingredients.

are any of your products vegan?

yes, the majority of our products are vegan. 

what is your packaging made of?

all of our packaging is earth-day approved. this means post-consumer recycled materials as much as possible. wherever possible. think ocean plastic tubes. FSC-certified 100% recycled paper boxes. & bioplastics. like sugarcane eye pencils barrels and lip gloss tubes for smaller carbon impact than petroleum-based plastic. meaning minimal decoration that allows for easy recycling. looking at you algae & veggie inks. 

where do your dyes and pigments come from? 

mainly naturally derived from iron oxides, titanium dioxide, mica, ferric ferrocynide. 

does caliray contribute to deforestation?

we work with our suppliers to make sure our ingredient sources do not contribute to deforestation or forest degradation. when we identify high risk ingredients, like palm oil, soy, cocoa, plantation rubber, coffee, or plantation wood fiber, or ingredients requiring conversion of natural habitat to cattle pasture, we require proof that they are sourced sustainably.

we partner with Pact, a non-profit collective mail back program to make sure no beauty packaging ends up in landfills or the ocean. for more information, click here.

what skin types are caliray products suitable for?

caliray products are suitable for all skin types. 

what does it mean to be a clean beauty brand?

we formulate without parabens, sulfates, phthalates, harsh, drying alcohols, nanomaterials, microplastics, or formaldehyde. scroll down to our full list of blacklisted ingredients. 

will my product melt/dry/freeze/expire/etc.?

under extreme conditions, the products might melt/dry/freeze. however, within a range of 40 -100 degrees f, this should not occur. we do have a period after opening that is printed on every packaging, and it is recommended that you use up the product in that time. 

is the fragrance used in the skin tint synthetic or natural?

The fragrance is 100% pure certified essential oils, natural isolates and natural solvents from natural origin.

is the skin tint suitable for older skin types?

absolutely! our skin tint offers extended hydration with prickly pear extract and has a blurring effect, diffusing light & softening fine lines. the formula is also buildable for spots that need a little extra coverage and has vitamins c & e to firm & plump the skin.
